The 2022 assessment notices were mailed on Wednesday, March 30th to Cedar Rapids property owners whose assessment has changed since last year, informing them of the January 1, 2022 assessment. 

 

For property owners that believe the assessment is not a reflection of market value, please contact our office to request an informal review.  The Cedar Rapids City Assessor’s office will conduct informal reviews from Monday, April 4, 2022 through Monday, April 25, 2022.  We highly recommend property owners contact our office as soon as possible to ensure timely processing of requests.

 

Additionally, property owners may file a formal property assessment appeal with the Cedar Rapids Board of Review between April 2, 2022 through and including April 30, 2022.  In the event April 30th falls on a Saturday or Sunday, protests filed or postmarked by the following Monday shall be considered to have been timely filed.  Paperwork may be submitted via email at crassessor@cedar-rapids.org

REMINDER:

The deadline to file for Homestead Tax Credit, Disabled Veterans Homestead Tax Credit, Military Exemption, and Business Property Tax Credit is July 1, 2021 for the 2021 assessment year (taxes payable September 2022 / March 2023). Applications may be submitted to our office via email, drop-box, mail or fax. All applications received or postmarked after July 1st will be processed for the 2022 assessment year (taxes payable September 2023 / March 2024).

Always ask for identification from anyone that comes to your door. Anyone representing themselves as being from our office will have proper identification.  If you believe that the person at your door is not a representative of this office, do not continue the conversation.

 

 The recently updated tax estimator calculates using the 2019 assessed value and the most recent levies and rollbacks. These calculations are to reflect a projected estimate of the 2020-2021 taxes. The computations are provided as a service and are a projection for estimation purposes only.  Errors or omissions shall not be binding upon this office.  Please contact the Linn County Treasurer for current year taxes or the Linn County Auditor about specific levies and rollbacks.
