The deadline to file for Homestead Tax Credit, Disabled Veterans Homestead Tax Credit, Military Exemption, and Business Property Tax Credit is July 1, 2021 for the 2021 assessment year (taxes payable September 2022 / March 2023). Applications may be submitted to our office via email, drop-box, mail or fax. All applications received or postmarked after July 1st will be processed for the 2022 assessment year (taxes payable September 2023 / March 2024).
Re-opening to Public Notice
The City Assessor's Office will be re-opening to the public beginning Tuesday, July 6th from 7:30am to 4:30pm. Our office will continue to provide service via phone, email, drop-box and mail.
In an effort to limit public interactions and gatherings, our office will be closed to the general public until further notice. To ensure minimal disruption during this time, a drop-box has been installed outside the City Services Center front lobby doors for the use of dropping off paperwork that would normally be dropped off in person at the front counter. You may also email paperwork to our office at firstname.lastname@example.org or fax at 319-286-5880.

Always ask for identification from anyone that comes to your door. Anyone representing themselves as being from our office will have proper identification. If you believe that the person at your door is not a representative of this office, do not continue the conversation.
The recently updated tax estimator calculates using the 2019 assessed value and the most recent levies and rollbacks. These calculations are to reflect a projected estimate of the 2020-2021 taxes. The computations are provided as a service and are a projection for estimation purposes only. Errors or omissions shall not be binding upon this office. Please contact the Linn County Treasurer for current year taxes or the Linn County Auditor about specific levies and rollbacks.
